This policy explains how peace — an AI participant that joins conversations to transcribe them and produce evidence-linked notes — handles information. peace is local-first and source-available. It is designed so that conversation data stays under the control of the person who runs it.
Information peace processes
When invited into a meeting or chat, peace may process:
- Audio — the spoken audio of the conversation, captured to be transcribed.
- Transcripts — speaker-attributed text with timestamps and confidence scores.
- Conversation metadata — meeting title, platform (e.g. Zoom, Discord), participant labels, and start/end times.
- Generated artifacts — summaries, decisions, action items, open questions, key points, and diagrams derived from the transcript, each citing the transcript segments it was drawn from.
peace does not ask for or store payment details, government identifiers, or passwords. Access to third-party services is via API keys that the operator supplies and holds.
Where information is stored
Conversation data is written to a local database on the operator's machine (SQLite, at a path the operator configures). There is no automatic cloud backup and no telemetry. Data is not transmitted to servers owned by peace or its author, because none exist for that purpose.
Third-party processors
To do its work, peace sends data directly (point-to-point, with no intermediary relay) to third-party services chosen and configured by the operator. Depending on that configuration, these may include:
- Speech-to-text (e.g. Deepgram) — receives conversation audio to produce a transcript.
- Large language models (e.g. Anthropic, Google, or OpenAI) — receive transcript text to generate summaries and other artifacts.
- Text-to-speech (e.g. ElevenLabs) — receives text to synthesize peace's spoken replies.
- Conversation platforms (e.g. Zoom, Discord) — provide the audio and meeting controls through their own SDKs, under their own privacy policies.
Each provider processes data under its own terms and privacy policy. The operator is responsible for choosing providers appropriate to the sensitivity of their conversations.
Recording, consent, and transparency
peace is designed to participate openly, never covertly:
- Zoom — peace requests the host's local-recording permission on join, which triggers Zoom's native recording-consent prompt and disclaimer. Recording only begins after the host grants it, and Zoom's built-in recording indicator is shown to everyone for the duration. If permission is denied, peace leaves.
- Discord — peace joins a voice channel by explicit command and announces its presence in the channel. Participants can leave the channel to opt out.
How information is used
Information is used solely to transcribe the conversation, generate the evidence-linked artifacts described above, and let peace respond when addressed. It is not used for advertising, profiling, or sold to anyone. peace is noncommercial by license.
Retention and deletion
Because data lives in the operator's local database, it is retained for as long as the operator keeps it and is deleted when the operator deletes it or removes the database. Transcripts held transiently by third-party processors are governed by those providers' retention terms.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights over your personal information — including the right to access it, correct it, delete it, object to or restrict its processing, and to withdraw consent. Because peace stores data locally under the operator's control:
- To exercise these rights, contact the operator who invited peace into your conversation — they hold the data and can retrieve, correct, or delete it.
- You may decline to be recorded by withholding consent at the Zoom prompt, or by leaving the conversation.

Children
peace is not directed to children and should not be used to record children without the consent of a parent or guardian.
