These terms govern your use of peace, an AI participant that joins conversations to transcribe them and produce evidence-linked notes. By installing, running, or interacting with peace, you agree to these terms. This is a first version and will be refined over time.
License and permitted use
peace is source-available under the PolyForm Noncommercial License 1.0.0. You may use it for noncommercial purposes — personal use, research, education, and similar — subject to that license. Commercial use is not permitted. The full license text governs and prevails over any summary here.
Responsible and lawful recording
Recording conversations carries legal and ethical obligations that vary by jurisdiction. If you operate peace, you agree to:
- Obtain any consent required by law before recording, and honor each platform's consent mechanism (for example, Zoom's host-recording prompt and native recording indicator).
- Not use peace to record anyone covertly, or where recording is prohibited.
- Be responsible, as the operator, for the data peace records on your machine and for your chosen third-party providers.
- Comply with the terms of the conversation platforms (Zoom, Discord, and others) and third-party services you connect.
Acceptable use
You agree not to use peace to:
- Violate any law or the rights of others, including privacy and wiretapping laws.
- Harass, surveil, or deceive people, or misrepresent the source or accuracy of a transcript or artifact.
- Circumvent a platform's recording consent, indicators, or access controls.
AI-generated output
peace produces transcripts and artifacts using automated speech recognition and language models. These can contain errors or omissions. Output is provided to assist, not to serve as an authoritative or legal record. You are responsible for reviewing and verifying anything you rely on. Evidence links are provided precisely so claims can be checked against what was actually said.
Third-party services
peace connects to third-party services (such as speech-to-text, language-model, text-to-speech, and conversation-platform providers) that you configure with your own credentials. Your use of those services is governed by their terms and privacy policies. peace is not responsible for third-party services.
No warranty
peace is provided "as is," without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement, to the fullest extent permitted by law and as set out in the license.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, the author of peace shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or exemplary damages, or any loss of data, arising from your use of peace.
Changes
We may update these terms as peace evolves. Continued use after a change constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
